Software Tester Job Profile

As a software tester, you'll be involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. You'll conduct automated and manual tests to ensure the software/module created by developers is fit for purpose and any bugs or issues are removed before it gets deployed to end users. Your familiarity with coding syntax and knowledge of programming languages would be a big plus.

Responsibilities:

As a software tester, you'll need to:

• Understand the scope of job

• Work with software developers and project support team

• Identify business requirements

• Monitor applications and software systems

• Carry out stress testing, performance testing, functional testing and scalability testing

• Write and execute test scripts

• Run manual and automated tests

• Test in different environments including web and mobile

• Write bug reports

• Review documentation

• Work towards project deadlines

• Provide quality assurance

• Provide objective feedback to software development team

• Troubleshoot and problem solve

• Design test cases to mitigate risk

• Present findings to software development and business user teams

• Work on multiple tasks at one time

Working Hours:

You'll work Monday to Saturday on regular hours, although evening work can be necessary, especially for projects with tight deadlines. Depending on the employer and different timezones, client meetings may take place late in the evening.

What to expect:

• Work is mainly office-based and you'll spend the majority of your time at a computer.

• Your role as a software tester may be stressful at times, particularly around the time of project completion.
